We figure that if you can't "walk the walk" then you can't "talk the talk" when it comes to having less impact on the planet. Because of that, we use our offices as an ongoing laboratory to test out ideas, systems and specific products. That way, we can stand by our first-hand experience when we recommend a solution to our clients.
So how efficient is our office? One of the most efficient in the world. The building uses zero fossil fuels, nearly a quarter of our annual energy use is provided by our on-site solar panels (which is no small feat in Seattle), and our annual use is verified at 27 kBtu/sq.ft. The only other offices who can claim energy use that low are either in mediterranean climates or are only *predicted* to use that little of energy. We've steadily retrofitted our building over the past 5-years, finding out what works and what doesn't. Over that period of time, we've economically lowered our energy use by 75% and slashed water consumption by a whopping 95% - all while keeping our building at a comfortable 71 degrees year round.
Our building was highlighted by the EPA with a coveted national small business award for the innovation involved with our renovations.
